Rain weather & Reflections

As we continue to settle in here..I want you to know it's a scary feeling...getting used to forests instead of flat pasture land where we came from last.
All this will 'bring out' the man in me.
This is a historical marker that sits between Cherryvale and Independence.

Angel, at his age, and having diabetes-causes him to not be able to walk far, so we found one of the many docks that are around the lake.  So far we have caught one catfish two crappie and a bass, and threw them back.  More fishing to come later.

This is Allen and Jerred and crew re-setting direction post/signs out on the roads.  The work is fairly easy and is always professional and interesting.  The Corps of Engineers group here is sort of young and are easy going guys.

This is some of the construction at what they call the 'Overlook'--very handsome rock work.  This lake is not small and it's not big either...it's right in the middle.  What I would call a 'mamma bear' size.

Allen, the Park Ranger looks on as Mannie digs holes for the signs to be erected.

From the Overlook, you can see the white sand beach across the lake.  It will open to the public on May the 1st.
I will be doing sign work for this area also.

Back at the Corps office, Arnold and team are laying new mulch out on the rear garden.

Meanwhile Stewart finds the sun combined with carpet his favorite spot.  We have had that -(what I call) the boot scraper he is rolling next to, for many years and it's hand welded and great for weighing things down when needed.

This is an old bridge mid-way between Independence and Cherryvale Kansas.  I don't know the rivers name yet as I have a lot to learn about Kansas.
Over and out!  Billy
