I made a hard plastic stencil out of hard plastic. And painted and copied the way the real ones were laid out
First I made a grey base with spray paint over the area that was to be where the bricks are to be installed. Then I painted (airbrushed) the bricks in. Next after all that was done- I took a satin black oil paint (my favorite color)
...and you can see where I made a black line under each brick and one line to the left side of each brick. I did all the bricks like this to mimic the shadows from the sun- like on the real brick nearby.
Then I took the rest of the satin black and outlined the whole painted structure of this column and then dusted black around on each brick to 'break it up'.
Thats my hands holding the airbrush, and later you will see it needs outside cleaning. Paasche airbrushes are coated in wonderful chrome, and are very shiny. When you are working with oil paint- it does not take long for it to get everywhere- including your hands and finger nails.
Anyway this is how you make bricks on a wall where there are no bricks.
Next we will install planters (in Black) and will put some plants in them in the next section.
